Commissioned poems and short stories about National Trust houses’ connections to the British Empire. The creative pieces you will hear were produced with the guidance of 14 Colonial Countryside historians.

The Colonial Countryside project commissioned 10 authors, whose pieces will be published by Peepal Tree Press in Spring 2022. This illustrated book will also contain short historical commentaries and a photo essay by the project’s commissioned photographer, Ingrid Pollard.

Her work has previously been long listed for the Bridport Short Story and the Fish Short Story competitions. Her novel Borrowed Light won the Reader's Choice award and placed runner-up in the inaugural SI Leeds Literary Prize 2012. She is a VONA/Voices fellow and a recipient of a place on the Hedgebrook Writers in Residence program.
