Josué 8: ¡La humillación a Dios es señal de victoria!

Josué 8:1-8:
El SEÑOR dijo a Josué: —No temas ni desmayes. Toma contigo a toda la gente de guerra, levántate y sube contra Hai. Mira, yo he entregado en tu mano al rey de Hai, a su pueblo, su ciudad y su tierra. Harás a Hai y a su rey como hiciste a Jericó y a su rey. Solamente tomarán para ustedes su botín y su ganado. Pon una emboscada en el lado occidental de la ciudad.
Josué y toda la gente de guerra se levantaron para subir contra Hai. Josué escogió treinta mil hombres fuertes, a quienes envió de noche, y les mandó diciendo: —Miren, pondrán una emboscada detrás de la ciudad. No se alejen mucho de la ciudad, y estén todos preparados. Yo y toda la gente que está conmigo nos acercaremos a la ciudad. Y sucederá que cuando salgan contra nosotros como la primera vez, huiremos delante de ellos. Saldrán tras nosotros hasta que los hayamos alejado de la ciudad porque dirán: “Huyen de nosotros como la primera vez”. Huiremos, pues, delante de ellos, y ustedes se levantarán de la emboscada y se apoderarán de la ciudad, pues el SEÑOR su Dios la entregará en la mano de ustedes. Y sucederá que cuando hayan tomado la ciudad, le prenderán fuego. Harán conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR. Miren que yo se lo he mandado.

Ayer vimos la forma en que Dios detuvo su bendición y protección al pueblo de Israel en la guerra contra Hai, y también vimos cómo Dios puso al descubierto la razón del problema, siendo que un hombre trajo maldición al pueblo.
Ahora, el Señor vuelve a retomar su plan divino de darle victorias a su pueblo y, en esta ocasión, al ver que ya se habían apartado del mal, procede a darles otro plan de guerra para conquistar esta ciudad que se había engrandecido con la derrota a los israelitas.
Los israelitas estaban desanimados y con miedo porque acababan de ser humillados, pero creyeron una vez más al Señor y se levantaron con fe, siguiendo la estrategia militar: aparentando que estaban débiles y aterrorizados ante sus enemigos para emboscarlos.
Al final, Dios les dió tremenda victoria derrotando a sus enemigos, tomando las riquezas de la ciudad y recuperando la confianza en el Dios que los protege cuando ellos andan en sus caminos de rectitud.
Al final del capítulo vemos que cumplieron la orden de Moisés de elevar un altar al Señor, escribiendo la ley de Dios, y pronunciando las bendiciones y maldiciones en los montes asignados para que el pueblo las pronunciara a fuerte voz.

Este es un ejemplo de la forma en que Dios restaura la bendición a sus hijos. Nos ha quedado en claro que Dios no puede bendecir a un pueblo que se ha apartado de Dios cometiendo pecados; el pecado trae maldición. ¡Pero Dios puede purificar a un pueblo que se acerca a Él de corazón, eliminando lo que esté estorbando entre Dios y ellos, y cumpliendo todas las promesas! ¡Gracias sean dadas al Señor que es el mismo de ayer y de hoy!
El apóstol Juan nos enseña acerca de este proceso divino de Dios con sus hijos en 1 Juan 1:9: “Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados, y limpiarnos de toda maldad.”
El profeta Isaías también lo certifica en Isaías 55:7: “Deje el impío su camino, y el hombre inicuo sus pensamientos. Vuélvase al SEÑOR, quien tendrá de él misericordia; y a nuestro Dios, quien será amplio en perdonar.”

Es por eso que no debemos mirar la humillación como un acto de cobardía, sino que es la estrategia que Dios nos da para vencer al enemigo.
Cuando vivimos humillados delante de Dios y vivimos vidas de acuerdo a la Palabra de Dios, muchos nos verán como débiles, ¡pero ante Dios somos valientes e inteligentes!
El diablo pensó que humillando a Jesucristo por medio de Judas iba a derrotarlo, ¡pero lo que hizo fue cumplir las profecías de que Jesús le quitaría toda autoridad al diablo sobre la humanidad, venciendo al pecado, la muerte y el mundo!
Los apóstoles como el apóstol Pablo sabían de esa estrategia espiritual cuando parecemos débiles ante el mundo y el creyente es perseguido, ¡pero realmente somos más que vencedores!
Leamos 2 Corintios 4:8-9: “... que estamos atribulados en todo, pero no angustiados; en apuros, pero no desesperados; perseguidos, pero no desamparados; derribados, pero no destruidos;...” (RVC).

¡Así que, aunque se burlen y piensen mal de ti por seguir confiando en Dios y ser un seguidor de Jesucristo, sigue con firmeza la voz de Dios, que al final te dará una gran victoria!

Joshua 8: Humiliation to God is a sign of victory!

Joshua 8:1-8:
Now the Lord said to Joshua: “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land. And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only its spoil and its cattle you shall take as booty for yourselves. Lay an ambush for the city behind it.”
So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai; and Joshua chose thirty thousand mighty men of valor and sent them away by night. And he commanded them, saying: “Behold, you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city. Do not go very far from the city, but all of you be ready. Then I and all the people who are with me will approach the city; and it will come about, when they come out against us as at the first, that we shall flee before them. For they will come out after us till we have drawn them from the city, for they will say, ‘They are fleeing before us as at the first.’ Therefore we will flee before them. Then you shall rise from the ambush and seize the city, for the Lord your God will deliver it into your hand. And it will be, when you have taken the city, that you shall set the city on fire. According to the commandment of the Lord you shall do. See, I have commanded you.”

Yesterday we saw how God stopped His blessing and protection to the people of Israel in the war against Ai, and we also saw how God revealed the reason for the problem, being that a man brought a curse to town.
Now, the Lord resumes His divine plan to give victories to His people and, on this occasion, seeing that they had already turned away from evil, He proceeds to give them another plan of war to conquer this city that had grown bigger with the defeat to the Israelites.
The Israelites were discouraged and afraid because they had just been humiliated, but once again they believed the Lord and stood up with faith, following the military strategy: pretending that they were weak and terrified before their enemies to ambush them.
In the end, God gave them tremendous victory by defeating their enemies, taking the riches of the city and regaining trust in the God who protects them when they walk in His righteous ways.
At the end of the chapter we see that they fulfilled the order of Moses to raise an altar to the Lord, writing the law of God, and pronouncing the blessings and curses in the amounts assigned for the people to pronounce them with a loud voice.

This is an example of how God restores blessing to His children. It has become clear to us that God cannot bless a people who have separated themselves from God by committing sins; sin brings a curse. But God can purify a people who come to Him from the heart, removing what is standing between God and them, and fulfilling all the promises! Thanks be to the Lord who is the same yesterday and today!
The apostle John teaches us about this divine process of God with His children in 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The prophet Isaiah also certifies it in Isaiah 55:7: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”

That is why we should not look at humiliation as an act of cowardice, rather, it is the strategy that God gives us to defeat the enemy.
When we live humiliated before God and live lives according to the Word of God, many will see us as weak, but before God we are brave and intelligent!
The devil thought that by humiliating Jesus Christ through Judas he was going to defeat Him, but what he did was fulfill the prophecies that Jesus would take away all authority from the devil over mankind, defeating sin, death and the world!
The apostles like the apostle Paul knew of that spiritual strategy when we appear weak before the world and the believer is persecuted, but really we are more than conquerors!
Let's read 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—”

So, even if they mock you and think badly of you for continuing to trust in God and being a follower of Jesus Christ, firmly follow the voice of God, which will give you a great victory in the end!
