Josué 2: Símbolo de rescate para toda la familia.

Josué 2:12-23:
Y ahora, por favor, júrenme por el SEÑOR que como he mostrado misericordia para con ustedes, así harán ustedes con la familia de mi padre, de lo cual me darán una señal segura. Dejarán vivir a mi padre, a mi madre, a mis hermanos, a mis hermanas y a todos los suyos, y librarán nuestras vidas de la muerte.
Los hombres le respondieron: —Nuestra vida sea por la de ustedes hasta la muerte, si tú no hablas de este asunto nuestro. Entonces, cuando el SEÑOR nos haya dado la tierra, mostraremos para contigo misericordia y verdad.
Luego ella los hizo descender con una cuerda por la ventana, porque su casa estaba sobre la muralla de la ciudad, y ella vivía en la muralla. Luego les dijo: —Márchense hacia la región montañosa, para que no los encuentren los que fueron tras ustedes. Escóndanse allí tres días, hasta que hayan regresado los que los persiguen. Después seguirán su camino.
Los hombres le dijeron: —Nosotros quedaremos libres de este juramento que nos has hecho jurar, a menos que, cuando entremos en la tierra, ates este cordón rojo a la ventana por la cual nos has descolgado. Reunirás junto a ti en la casa a tu padre, a tu madre, a tus hermanos y a toda la familia de tu padre. Cualquiera que salga fuera de las puertas de tu casa, su sangre caerá sobre su propia cabeza, y nosotros quedaremos libres. Pero si alguien pone su mano sobre cualquiera que esté en la casa contigo, su sangre caerá sobre nuestra cabeza. También si hablas de este asunto nuestro, nosotros quedaremos libres del juramento que nos has hecho jurar.
Ella respondió: —Como han dicho, así sea.
Luego los despidió, y se fueron. Y ella ató el cordón rojo a la ventana.

Ayer vimos como Josué tomó el liderazgo del pueblo. Su primera prueba era conquistar a Jericó, una de las ciudades más fortificadas y poderosas, famosa por sus altas murallas que la protegían de cualquier invasor.
Josué, como estratega militar, envió a dos espías para que investigaran los puntos débiles de la ciudad. Ellos fueron descubiertos pero una mujer los escondió. Ella les confesó que toda la ciudad estaba desmoralizada y aterrada ante los israelitas, porque habían escuchado todo que Dios estaba haciendo a favor de los israelitas y los reyes que habían derrotado. ¡Ella estaba segura que Dios entregaría la ciudad en las manos de los Israelitas!
Esto fue una señal grande para los espías, porque así descubrieron que el área débil de Jericó estaba en los corazones de sus habitantes.
En agradecimiento, porque ella arriesgó su vida escondiéndolos y no entregándolos, ellos prometieron rescatarla a ella y su familia. La señal que ellos le dieron a la mujer para poder rescatar a ella y a su familia cuando invadieran la ciudad era que ella colgara un cordón rojo en su ventana.

Imagínese la vida de esta mujer que vivía de vender su cuerpo a hombres. Una vida vacía y superficial, conocida entre el pueblo por su labor deshonrosa. Pero en esta ocasión llegaron hombres no para usarla sino para ofrecerle una vida nueva. ¡Ella ya no sería la ramera del muro sino que se convertiría en una heroína ante los ojos de los Israelitas! Y no solamente la libraría de una muerte segura cuando ellos invadieran a Jericó sino también a toda su familia y sus parientes.
La salvación llegó a esta familia, pero primero ella debía mostrar en la ventana ese cordón rojo para ayudarlos a salvarse.
¡Esta señal de salvación y redención por medio de este cordón rojo es un simbolismo profético acerca de la obra maravillosa de Jesucristo en aquellas familias que reconocen que sin Dios están perdidos, pero cuando son cubiertos con la sangre escarlata del Salvador del mundo ellos son salvos por su gracia! Este es el mismo símbolo y representación de salvación cuando los judios untaron los dinteles de sus puertas con sangre cuando estaban en Egipto, y el ángel de la muerte no entró en sus casas.

Que esta historia nos recuerde la importancia de poner al Señor delante de forma visible para que la muerte no entre a nuestras casas, para que cuando el juicio de Dios se manifieste, nosotros hallemos gracia ante los ojos de Dios, porque hemos aceptado la salvación y redención por medio de la sangre de Jesucristo.
Al confesar a Jesucristo como Salvador y Redentor de nuestras almas, su salvación también alcanza a nuestra familia y parientes, como el apóstol Pedro lo afirmó en Hechos 2:39: Porque la promesa es para ustedes, para sus hijos y para todos los que están lejos, para todos cuantos el Señor nuestro Dios llame.”

Aun cuando solamente hay un miembro de la familia que comienza a caminar en la fe de Jesucristo, los demás son bendecidos por esa fe, como lo enseñó el apóstol Pablo en 1 Corintios 7:14: “Porque el esposo no creyente es santificado en la esposa, y la esposa no creyente en el creyente. De otra manera sus hijos serían impuros, pero ahora son santos.”

Así que, no te despegues de la mano del Señor, vive bajo su gracia al aceptar su obra magnífica en la cruz por ti, por mí y por nuestras familias.

Joshua 2: Symbol of rescue for the whole family.

Joshua 2:12-23:
Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.”
So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall. And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward you may go your way.”
So the men said to her: “We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household to your own home. So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him. And if you tell this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath which you made us swear.”
Then she said, “According to your words, so be it.” And she sent them away, and they departed. And she bound the scarlet cord in the window.

Yesterday we saw how Joshua took the leadership of the people. His first test was to conquer Jericho, one of the most fortified and powerful cities, famous for its high walls that protected it from any invader.
Joshua, as a military strategist, sent two spies to investigate the weak spots of the city. They were discovered but a woman hid them. She confessed to them that the whole city was demoralized and terrified before the Israelites, because they had heard everything that God was doing in favor of the Israelites and the kings that they had defeated. She was sure that God would deliver the city into the hands of the Israelites!
This was a great sign for the spies, because they discovered that Jericho's weak area was in the hearts of its inhabitants.
In gratitude, because she risked her life hiding them and not giving them up, they promised to rescue her and her family. The sign they gave the woman to be able to rescue her and her family when they invaded the city was for her to hang a red cord in her window.

Imagine the life of this woman who lived by selling her body to men. An empty and shallow life, known among the people for her dishonorable work. But this time men came not to use her but to offer her a new life. She would no longer be the whore of the wall but would become a hero in the eyes of the Israelites! And not only would she save her from certain death when they invaded Jericho, but also his entire family and relatives.
Salvation came to this family, but first she had to show in the window that red cord to help save them.
This sign of salvation and redemption through this red cord is a prophetic symbolism about the wonderful work of Jesus Christ in those families who recognize that without God they are lost, but when they are covered with the scarlet blood of the Savior of the world they are saved by His grace! This is the same symbol and representation of salvation when the Jews smeared their doorposts with blood when they were in Egypt, and the angel of death did not enter their houses.

May this story remind us of the importance of putting the Lord before us in a visible way so that death does not enter our houses, so that when God's judgment is manifested, we find grace in the eyes of God, because we have accepted salvation and redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.
By confessing Jesus Christ as Savior and Redeemer of our souls, His salvation also reaches our family and relatives, as the apostle Peter stated in Acts 2:39: “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.””

Even when there is only one member of the family who begins to walk in the faith of Jesus Christ, others are blessed by that faith, as the apostle Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 7:14: “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.”

So, do not let go of the hand of the Lord, live under His grace by accepting His magnificent work on the cross for you, for me and for our families.
