show moreI think about communion. The grape juice and cracker - a picture of the broken body of Jesus and His blood that was poured out on the cross. He endured all that to save me from my sins, so that if I would believe on His sacrifice, I could be forgiven and experience an eternity with Him in Heaven.
The message of the cross is offensive because it assumes that I can’t save myself. The cross cares nothing for my self-esteem, because it knows that left to my self-esteem, I would suffer an eternity without Christ.
It’s humiliating to admit “I am not enough,” but it’s comforting to rest in the truth that “He is enough.”
Romans 8:3 - “The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.”
To whom would I go? You have the words that give eternal life. I believe and I know You are the Holy One of God!
