Marisa is a sophmore at Northern Michigan University!
Women's wrestling is the fastest-growing sport in the world. I won state twice before women’s wrestling was sanctioned in Wisconsin (2022). This allowed me to be the first-ever WIAA Wisconsin Girls State Champion at 138 lbs. Following this, I could speak in the Journal Sentinel, My Community Now, WISN 12, and other news organizations.
My summer has been busy as I coached at multiple camps around Wisconsin sharing my experiences as a female in the sport. I also represented NMU as I raced in Grandma’s Marathon where I won my age division.
It is important to me to share my experiences to help empower other women. I have done this by speaking at camps, schools, and organizations to help better educate other women about their opportunities in athletics. I am the founder of the RBG club at my former high school (Brookfield Central) where I used that as a platform to educate young women about the importance of their voices. In college, I’m now a volunteer working with the Women's Center with that same mission.
