A team of researchers is moving a step closer to understanding the causes and effects of ALS. WBZ's Tina Gao spoke with John Landers, Professor of Neurology at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He led the research that has identified a new gene, called "KIF-5A," which is linked to the development of ALS. The discovery of the gene was published in the journal, "Neuron."
