Adelaide thrash machine Hidden Intent have dropped their ferocious new single “Breaking Point”, which is lifted from their upcoming album Dead End Destiny that is due out of February 26.
Bass player and frontman Chris McEwen sat down with HEAVY during the week to talk about the new single.
"With this one when we were writing it we wanted to go a little bit more on the old school Annihilator groove side of thrash metal,” he said, “so we came up with this thick chord progression with a little bit of a melodic Megadeth sort of vibe as well - 90s Megadeth - and I really wanted with my lyrics to reflect the work that I do. I'm a child protection youth worker, so I wanted to have those more serious... I guess this is our first serious song. We're known for being a party thrash band so I wanted to go on a bit more of a serious angle - just this one track."
In the full interview, Chris talks about the novel way the band chose this track to launch the album, the musical direction of the new album, how Hidden Intent has grown as a band since their inception in 2011, sounding fresh in a genre that has been around seemingly forever, future plans and more.
