Cs: Václav kráčel po Karlově mostě.
En: Václav walked across Charles Bridge.

Cs: Bylo léto, slunce zářilo a turisté si fotili sochy.
En: It was summer, the sun was shining, and tourists were taking pictures of the statues.

Cs: V hlavě měl důležitou schůzku.
En: He had an important meeting on his mind.

Cs: Dnes měl potkat nového klienta.
En: Today he was to meet a new client.

Cs: Díky tomu kontraktu by byl finančně v pohodě.
En: Thanks to that contract, he would be financially secure.

Cs: Ale cítil se jinak.
En: But he felt different.

Cs: Něco ho tlačilo v hrudi.
En: Something pressed in his chest.

Cs: Nepřikládal tomu velkou váhu.
En: He didn't pay much attention to it.

Cs: Měl přece vydělat peníze.
En: After all, he was going to make money.

Cs: „Musím to zvládnout,“ říkal si v duchu.
En: "I have to manage this," he told himself.

Cs: Bylo mu čtyřicet pět let a freelancing byl jeho životem.
En: He was forty-five years old, and freelancing was his life.

Cs: Stres z práce ho sice tížil, ale nechtěl si to přiznat.

Cs: Nechtěl vypadat slabě.
En: He didn't want to appear weak.

Cs: „Ještě pár kroků,“ šeptal si.
En: "Just a few more steps," he whispered to himself.

Cs: Pak ho viděl.
En: Then he saw him.

Cs: Klient stál na boku mostu a čekal.
En: The client was standing to the side of the bridge, waiting.

Cs: Václav se snažil usmát, ale tělo ho zradilo.
En: Václav tried to smile, but his body betrayed him.

Cs: Ještě jeden krok a ztratil vědomí.
En: Just one more step, and he lost consciousness.

Cs: Zhroutil se přímo na tvrdé kostky mostu.
En: He collapsed right onto the hard cobblestones of the bridge.

Cs: Klient to uviděl a okamžitě zavolal sanitku.
En: The client saw it and immediately called an ambulance.

Cs: Lidé kolem se seběhli a snažili se Václava probudit.
En: People gathered around and tried to revive Václav.

Cs: Byl v bezvědomí, ale dýchal.
En: He was unconscious but breathing.

Cs: Během několika minut na místo přijela záchranka.
En: Within minutes, the ambulance arrived.

Cs: Přeložili Václava na nosítka a odvezli ho do nemocnice.
En: They put Václav on a stretcher and took him to the hospital.

Cs: Probral se v nemocnici, kde mu lékaři řekli, že měl infarkt.
En: He woke up in the hospital, where doctors told him he had had a heart attack.
