It's regarded as the greatest "short fight" in boxing history, and the anniversary of the EPIC Middleweight title clash of "Marvelous Marvin" Hagler and Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns is April 15th from 1985. So, host T.J. Rives and insider/historian Dan Rafael are back on "Fight Freaks Unite" to discuss it all.
The guys breakdown the phenomenal first round, where both future Hall of Famers are throwing and receiving punches that destroyed their former opponents. Yet, neither of them would go down.
T.J. and Dan also have insight on the build-up to this mega-fight, how/why Sugar Ray Leonard not fighting either of them factors in and Dan has a great story of being with Tommy Hearns many years later to re-live the fight and the KO ending by Hagler.
You will also hear from Hall of Fame broadcasters Al Bernstein and Barry Tompkins, who were on the separate calls of the PPV and the HBO sports broadcasts, yet have their remembrances, especially of that first round.
Hagler got the victory, but even in defeat Hearns show why he's a Hall of Famer, too.
It's all part of the "Fight Freaks Unite Podcast" series and make sure to follow and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, etc. to this podcast feed for Big Fight Weekend to get more of the same!
