"To be honest it's probably the best one we've done really", Andy Whale, drummer for Birmingham old school thrash merchants Memoriam, stated modestly referring to their upcoming third album Requiem For Mankind. "It's got great production, it's got great songs on it and the lyrics are really strong as well. It's basically the end of a trilogy really which goes back to For The Fallen and The Silent Vigil. For The Fallen was our first album and we were finding our feet and finding our sound and that kind of thing. The Silent Vigil was just moving forward and trying different things and different ideas but really Requiem is a culmination of all three. It's just a big sounding, heavy, steamroller of an album. I've been listening to it for three months so it will be interesting to find out - because I know there has been a couple of songs come out - but it will be interesting to hear everybody's view once the full length is out next week".
In the full interview Andy discusses the concept that links the three albums together, runs through the songs on Requiem For Mankind, explains the reasons behind their prolific output of an album a year for the last three years, the lessons each of them brought to Memoriam from previous bands, the reasons for sticking with the tried and true old school metal formula but how they have put their own stamp on it and more.
