Join Nancy J. Reid and Lisa D. Smith, publishers of Big Blend Magazines and full-time travelers on the Love Your Parks Tour, as they visit Natchitoches, Louisiana for the third time (and there are plenty of reasons why!).
Founded in 1714 by Louis Juchereau de St. Denis, Natchitoches is the original French Colony and oldest city in Louisiana, and celebrates a vibrant blend of French, Spanish, African, Native American and Creole cultures. This vibrant destination is home to the downtown National Historic Landmark District, the Cane River Creole National Historical Park, and Melrose Plantation, is part of the Cane River National Heritage Area and Louisiana’s No Man’s Land, and is the final destination on the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail.
This episode features Arlene Gould and Kelli West of Natchitoches Convention & Visitors Bureau, who share what there is to see in do in the region, as well as what festivals and special events are still happening this year. Do know that the local attractions, parks and historic sites, seasonal activities, events and festivities, are taking safety precautions and health regulations seriously during this time of the Coronavirus pandemic, and it is good to check Natchitoches.com for any changes that may occur.
