Giuseppe Vermiglio è un grande pittore ancora avvolto in gran parte dal mistero. A partire dal suo luogo di nascita, probabilmente Alessandria. Il periodo romano lo ha visto tra gli artisti che hanno accolto fin da subito le novità caravaggesche, divenendo anche un celebrato imitatore copista.
