GETTIN' SALTY EXPERIENCE PODCAST Ep.128 Monday Feb. 20th at 8pm on our YouTube Channel. Our special guest will be 39 year FDNY veteran First Deputy Fire Commissioner Bob Turner. He was appointed on September 2, 1978 and was assigned to Engine 222 (Triple Deuce) in Oct. 1978. In 1980 he transferred to Ladder 175. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1986 and assigned to Engine 1 and then transferred to Ladder 24 in 1990. Promoted to Captain in 1992 and was assigned to Engine 214 in 1993-99. He was Promoted to Battalion Chief in 1999 and covered in Division 11 until getting the spot in the 46 Battalion in 2000. He went to the First Line Supervisors Training Program from 2010 to 2014 and became the First Deputy Fire Commissioner from 2014 to 2017 becoming one of the highest ranking African-Americans to ever serve the department. Chief Turner has responded to some of the city’s worst disasters, including the Sept. 11 attacks and the Fathers Day fire in Astoria. He Retired on November 17, 2017. You don’t want to miss this one.
