Lt: Kaip saulė šviečia ant Vilniaus namų stogų, viena kaimynystė ruošiasi metiniam sodų konkursui.
En: As the sun shines on the rooftops of Vilnius, one neighborhood is preparing for the annual garden competition.

Lt: Kiekvienas kiemas atrodo lyg iš žurnalo viršelio.
En: Every yard looks like it’s straight out of a magazine cover.

Lt: Bet labiausiai išsiskiria Rūtos sodas.
En: But Rūta's garden stands out the most.

Lt: Ji labai kruopščiai rūpinasi kiekvienu augalu.
En: She takes meticulous care of every plant.

Lt: „Šiemet aš laimėsiu“, Rūta sako savo draugei Laimai.
En: "This year, I will win," Rūta tells her friend Laima.

Lt: „Šis sodas - mano pasididžiavimas.
En: "This garden is my pride and joy."

Lt: “Rūta dar pridėjo nuostabią puošmeną - sodo nykštuką, kurį ji rado antikvariate.
En: Rūta had also added a wonderful ornament—a garden gnome that she found at an antique shop.

Lt: Jis buvo drūtas ir šypsosi.
En: It was stocky and smiling.

Lt: Vieną vakarą, kai visi darbai padaryti, Rūta patenkinta sėdi ant terasos ir mėgaujasi savo sodu.
En: One evening, when all the work was done, Rūta contentedly sat on her terrace, enjoying her garden.

Lt: Tuo tarpu jos kaimynas Dainius, patogiai įsikūręs garaže, montuoja dar vieną savo projektą.
En: Meanwhile, her neighbor Dainius, comfortably settled in his garage, was assembling another one of his projects.

Lt: Jis ne per daug rūpinasi sodais, bet, kadangi visiems tai svarbu, nusprendžia pabandyti pagražinti savo kiemą.
En: He didn’t care too much about gardens, but since it was important to everyone else, he decided to try and spruce up his yard.

En: However, Dainius is a bit clumsy.

En: One evening, he went out to pick up the sprinkler.

Lt: Bet vietoj to užkliuvo už Rūtos tvoros ir griuvo tiesiai į sodą.
En: But instead, he tripped over Rūta's fence and fell straight into the garden.

Lt: „Oi, ne!
En: "Oh no!"

Lt: “, jis ramiai pagalvojo, pamatęs numuštą nykštuką.
En: he thought calmly, seeing the knocked-over gnome.

Lt: Dainius žinojo, kad turi kažką daryti.
En: Dainius knew he had to do something.

Lt: Pačiupęs nuo žemės, jis pabandė lyg nieko nebuvę prisilipdyti jį atgal.
En: He grabbed it off the ground and tried to reattach it as if nothing had happened.

Lt: Nykštuko nosis buvo nulaužta.
En: The gnome's nose was broken.

Lt: „Super klijai padarys stebuklą“, jis paguodė save.
En: "Super glue will work wonders," he reassured himself.

Lt: Naktį, kai visi miega, Dainius tyliai lenda į Rūtos sodą.
En: At night, when everyone was asleep, Dainius quietly snuck into Rūta's garden.

Lt: Jis klijuoja nykštuką, bet netikėtai išgirdo garsą.
En: He glued the gnome, but suddenly heard a noise.

Lt: „Kas ten?
En: "Who's there?"

Lt: “, Rūta šnibžda, atidarydama duris.
En: Rūta whispered, opening the door.

Lt: „Rūta, tai aš!
En: "Rūta, it's me!

Lt: Dainius.
En: Dainius.

Lt: Atsiprašau, aš viską sugrioviau“, jis nuryja seiles ir laikosi už pusiau sutvarkyto nykštuko.
En: I’m sorry, I ruined everything," he swallowed hard and held onto the half-fixed gnome.

Lt: Rūta pradeda juoktis.
En: Rūta began to laugh.

Lt: „Daini, kodėl tu nespėjai anksčiau pasakyti?
En: "Dainius, why didn’t you tell me earlier?"

Lt: “Tuo metu atskuba Laima.
En: At that moment, Laima hurried over.

Lt: „Na, dabar jau supratom, kur dingo nykštukas.
En: "Well, now we know where the gnome went.

Lt: Bet manau, mes galime jį sutaisyti dar geriau!
En: But I think we can fix it even better!"

Lt: "Laima pasiūlo naudoti keramikos dažus ir paversti nykštuką į dar spalvingesnį kūrinį.
En: Laima suggested using ceramic paint to turn the gnome into an even more colorful creation.

Lt: Kitą dieną visi trys draugai dedasi darbui.
En: The next day, the three friends set to work.

Lt: Rūta išmoksta būti lankstesnė, Dainius parodo savo kūrybiškumą, o Laima padeda visiems prisijuokti.
En: Rūta learned to be more flexible, Dainius showed his creativity, and Laima helped everyone laugh.

Lt: Komisija vertina jų pastangas.
En: The judges appreciated their efforts.

Lt: Sodo nykštukas gauna daug dėmesio.
En: The garden gnome got a lot of attention.

Lt: „Šiame sode matome tikrą bendruomenę ir kūrybiškumą“, sako komisijos pirmininkas.
En: "In this garden, we see genuine community and creativity," said the head judge.

Lt: Rūta laimi konkursą, bet svarbiausia, ji pradeda labiau vertinti savo draugų pagalbą ir idėjas.
En: Rūta won the competition, but more importantly, she started to appreciate her friends' help and ideas more.

Lt: „Pagaliau supratau, kad netobulumas suteikia žavesio“, ji abiem sako, kaip nuostabi vasaros diena besibaigia su skania arbata ir juoko ašaromis.
En: "I finally realized that imperfection adds charm," she told them, as a wonderful summer day ended with delicious tea and tears of laughter.
