Jess Byard June nears its conclusion with a look one of the Friday the 13th films that seem to care less about continuity and canon and more about giving the viewer tits and gore: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. The film follows the further exploits of Tommy Jarvis, the young boy who killed Jason Voorhees in the previous film, as he is now a troubled adult who begins to hallucinate that Jason is still alive possibly. These hallucinations follow him to a summer camp-like halfway house where carnage, nudity, and drug use seemingly wakes the silent killer once more. It's an interesting entry into a franchise not known for taking risks with some of those risks paying off and others falling completely flat. Award-winning screenwriter and namesake of the month Jess Byard joins Chris to talk fake Jason, the use of nudity in the film, and where it stands in the overall franchise.
