Outrageous, bold and honest, that’s Coco Peru! Everybody’s favorite drag queen from the Bronx is on today’s show to talk about her career, her love life and drag queens.

Coco is best know for her work in the films Trick and Girls Will Be Girls, as well as an unforgettable appearance on the groundbreaking TV show Will and Grace.

Listen as Coco talks about how she came up with her famous catchphrase “It Burns” from the film Trick and how she was devastated after filming it because she thought nobody would find her funny.

Coca started doing drag because she “wanted to change the world and make everybody love gay people.” Now she’s just trying to get by, but what happened along the way? One thing’s for sure, everybody who sees Coco loves Coco, especially her mother who takes her gray haired gal pals to see her drag show.

Matt from Mary's Attic takes it off for charityCoco’s coming to Chicago on March 7 to the Park West as part of the Chicago Takes Off, the annual burlesque revue-style show that benefits Test Positive Aware Network, an organization that empowers people living with HIV through peer-led support and advocacy.
