Have you ever thought about worship being part of your wellness? That is what Amber Harris challenges us to do in this week’s episode of the Wholly a Woman podcast. Amber curates the Instagram account @worship.in.wellness and she helps us see how wellness can be an act of worship.
When we talk about wellness, we are not just talking about physical fitness. We are talking about mental, physical, and spiritual health. Amber asks us to think not just about self-care, but about soul-care. She shares some strategies she uses to care for her whole self that you can try too.
My mission at NFP Pharmacist is to empower women to care for and love the bodies God gave them. Amber shares that she sees us celebrating our whole womanhood by loving and appreciating the bodies God gave us. I really appreciated this conversation and Amber’s perspective on worship in wellness.
Here are the take-aways from this week’s episode:
-There is a gap between self-care and soul-care
-Self-care is temporary, while soul-care is caring for your overall eternal being
-There really is no separation between mental, physical, and spiritual health
-Consider an end-of-week check-in to review those things that brought you joy (mental health deposits) and those things that suck the joy from you (mental health withdrawals)
-Worship is an activity of the heart and God cares about our heart appearance
-Be honest with yourself about why you’re working out
-It’s not about glorifying your body, it’s about glorifying God with your body
-Celebrate your whole womanhood by loving and appreciating the body God gave you. Are you thankful for the body you have right now?
