Years of Service: 1989-2024

James grew up with his dad in law enforcement but didn’t initially have any desire to follow in his footsteps. However, after starting his first job at 20 years old, James soon realized he needed to do more with his life, and he eventually started to apply to become a police officer. In 1989, James began his career with the Seattle Police Department and for the next 35 years worked as a patrolman, served on the Anti-Crime Team, and as a Detective in the Narcotics Unit. James was also an SPD instructor who taught classes in different subjects specializing in undercover. James eventually reached the pinnacle of his career in 2005, when he became a Homicide Detective.
In this episode James talks about what makes a good undercover, the downfall of the City of Seattle, the lowering of police standards in hiring, and the new generation’s lack of work ethic. James also discusses a few of his homicide cases one of which he was featured in Netflix’s series Worst Roommate Ever.
