Valentines day is upon us and it is a day that reminds us that love is something worth celebrating. It’s also a day that can be hard on folks who are isolated and those in relationships which need a bit of help. The reason why love is so confusing is that it is complicated on many levels - even physiologically.

Our bodies act differently when we are in love, our brains think in strange ways and our heart actually does beat to a different drum. Behind all of these changes is a whole field of science and today we are very fortunate to have a global expert on the topic with us to talk about his research and practice.

In this episode we talk with Dr. Richard Schwartz, who is an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (@harvardmed) and a consultant to McLean and Massachusetts General (MGH) hospitals his area of practice and research is into issues surrounding social isolation, loneliness, social connection, and lasting marriage.
