In this episode of Season 2 of "Live Local, Give Local: San Diego" listeners learn about the essential and challenging work of the San Diego Council on Literacy. You might laugh, you might cry, but we know you'll be thinking deeply after listening to the conversation between co-host Charles Parisi, CEO of Cloudcast Media, co-host Teresa Colosimo-Miller, the CEO of 365 Connect, the CEO of the Council, Jose Cruz, and one of their amazing donors and supporters, Jackie Abrams.
This episode reminds us that organizations and systems are nothing more and nothing less than the power of the culture, with the culture set by the people. In this case, you're going to hear a great deal about why she LOVES Jose Cruz and all that he stands for and as a result, why she cares deeply about the San Diego Council on Literacy. "I would do anything for Jose" she says and that says a great deal! You'll also hear that he is kind, a great friend and never says no to showing up for literacy.
You'll also enjoy listening to everything from sports and Bowlegged BBQ to poverty and the right perspective to seeing test scores. Of course, you'll hear about the work of the SD Council on Literacy and a discussion of what we might need to do better to improve literacy in our city.
