Dr. Marcia Faustin is a highly respected sports medicine physician and assistant clinical professor at UC Davis, where she co-heads the team overseeing athlete care. With a background as a former Division I athlete, Dr. Faustin brings a unique, holistic approach to her work, focusing on both physical and mental health. She gained prominence as the team doctor for the U.S. Gymnastics Team, particularly for her pivotal role in supporting Simone Biles during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and aiding Suni Lee through her battle with kidney disease. Dr. Faustin is deeply committed to rebuilding trust within the gymnastics community after the traumatic events involving former team doctor Larry Nassar. As a Black woman in a field where less than 3 percent of her peers look like her, she is a trailblazer, advocating for comprehensive care that treats athletes as whole individuals, beyond just their physical performance.
