For 180 days out of the year our children will spend the majority of their childhood in the care of people other than their parents. We need to ensure that the people charged with teaching our children are also charged with protecting them. Many schools are danger zones. The number of school teachers sexually abusing students is rising in virtually every state. An estimated 10% of students will experience school employee sexual misconduct by the time they graduate high school. For more information, see the report by National Criminal Justice Reference Service:

Parents need to know that their kids' schools are safe. And if they aren't safe, parents need to know how to become empowered to help hold schools accountable to become safe. It's no easy task, but in this episode we provide 7 things parents should look for in a safe school.
