S.H.I.E.L.D is a governmental organization that exists to counter terrorism and threats outside the formal jurisdiction. Its staff consists only of the best agents, recruited from different departments and corners of the Earth. S.H.I.E.L.D was established immediately after World War II by Nick Fury - the most famous commander of super agents in the history of comic books, who appeared on the pages of the story about Iron Man. However, almost immediately Fury was refused his idea and halts the project.
