For Episode 12 of UnityNow!, host Zach Rhoads meets with Dr. Michael Shermer, author, founding publisher of Skeptic magazine and public intellectual. In this episode, Zach and Michael compare liberalism and conservatism and reflect on the current state of politics in the US. They also discuss why nonviolence should be favored over violence for enacting change, flows of information in the modern age and other topics. This conversation also includes Michael Shermer's take on Unity2020, it’s limitations, and that it’s time for a new experiment like it for America. He sites historical examples of the tension between progress and stability, and that all successful governments contain both. He also gives his take on what will happen after this election.

In July, Unity2020 burst onto the political stage with a simple yet radical idea -- elect two individuals from both political sides as a single ticket. Since then, over 30,000 (and growing) volunteers have joined the movement. While Unity2020 is no longer working to achieve ballot access in the 2020 election, the need for the movement still continues.
