EMPIRE WAIST tells the story of ‘Lenore’ (Mia Kaplan), an overweight, insecure teen who’s talent for fashion design is discovered by her fat and fabulous classmate. ‘Lenore’ must ultimately choose to put her designs on display for the world to see or return to a life of sewing in the shadows.

Mia Kaplan was born in Southern California and she is currently attending Texas State University, Mia’s love for the arts came at a young because of her grandfather who was a musician. When she was younger, Mia began experiencing anxiety and struggled with that for as long as she could remember, and found relief when stepping out of her own mind and getting in the head space of a character when acting.
