During the Covid-19 Lockdown of 2020, Alfie and his dad desperately needed something to do. They were struggling being at home as many families across the world similar to them, found it difficult too.
So, one day they went into the dad's once used and busy loft studio to play some music.
2 hrs later dad had a light bulb moment & that night, sat up buying recording software, missing necessary leads and other equipment and set out a radio show format which involved script cards, competitions, jokes plus other features based on the music.
Alfie is now 14 and has Downs Syndrome. He loves Music, Dancing and having fun.
The aim of the shows was to keep Alfie in touch with his friends and family but also to work on certain aspects of learning. Alfie, like most kids, didn't take too well to home schooling... i mean, who would right?
This way, without realising, Alfie learnt how to read out loud, speaking clearly so his pronunciation and reading ability, organisation skills & list writing has come along in leaps and bounds.
Alfie has had some amazing support to date, with jingles & drops sent through from Trevor Nelson (BBCR2), Huey Morgan (BBC6Music), Troy Townsend (Kick It Out), Terry Peters (London Music Radio), Scott James (Stomp Radio) plus he featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live shows getting a special mention of support from Jade of #Little Mix!
This Podcast is the first upload as a test and is a special recording done for the Metropolitan Police Summer school tour bus.
We hope to hear from you soon with any suggestions, requests, shout outs or topics and features.
Stay safe and well.
