Following a two-day public hearing, Vancouver City Council unanimously approved a rezoning application that will allow the construction of a detox centre and mixed-rate rental housing on a on a block of land between Clark and McLean drives along East First Avenue. Activists from the CCPA and VANDU disrupted the first day of the hearing to draw attention to those who are homeless and living in tents in Oppenheimer Park.
