Story Transcript:

He: השמש דקרה מעל מסלול הסחר של שוק הכרמל בתל אביב, בלתי נשלחה. ליעל, אזרחיה חדשה ממרילנד, ארה"ב, שהתה פנימה עושה כניסה מהוססת ללגונה השוקקת זו, היה קשה לסבול את חום היום. היא הלכה חד-חדאית בין הדוכנים, מסתכלת בתמימות על מגוון הבזרים, הבגדים והממתקים שנתנו לשוק את ריחו המשך וטעמו המיוחד.
En: The sun pierced above the path of the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, relentless. Yael, a new resident from Maryland, USA, who was sweating from the intense heat, made a hesitant entry into this bustling market. It was hard for her to bear the heat of the day. She walked tentatively among the stalls, innocently looking at the variety of trinkets, clothes, and sweets that gave the market its unique smell and taste.

En: She pulled out her small bag, hoping to find her city map and the name of her great comforter – nowhere to be found. The connection to the outside world was severed. She felt the tension in her blood, how it burned inside her veins, but she decided this was not a situation to be alarmed or afraid. She so wanted to be here.

Her first day in the melting pot of Neve Tzedek was a huge sign of agility and courage – a significant change from where she started.
