Roberta returns to the William Ramsey Investigates podcast to discuss Johnny Depp's civil case against actress Amber Heard. Depp is suing Heard for an article she wrote where she describes herself as a victim of domestic abuse. Depp lost a similar suit in the United Kingdom. In that case, Justice Nichol concluded the Sun UK's description of Depp as a "wife beater" was "substantially true." Nichol affirmed that Depp abused Heard on twelve different occasions, making her fearful for her life three times.

So good to hear people talk about this ridiculous media circus with sanity! It is embarrassing to be a member of a country that worships celebrities to the degree I see with Depp. I already knew that Depp lost the case in the UK and that it was clear that he had been guilty and have been shocked to see everything turned upside down for this court case (at least thus far). And yes, you are right about Heard being basically unknown in the U.S. I think the problem is that people really put their love and trust in a man which 99.999% of these people have never even met. Thank you for putting this out. It was hard (for me) to find, but I found it finally! Signed up to Spreaker just to hear your shows. Now I need to sign up to iTunes to listen to Ramsey. That makes me nervous because iTunes never got along with my transcription software years ago, but I'm going to try again! Back to Depp: Yes, I think he has been a good actor, but his public support of a convicted and confessed child murderer has not helped my impression of who this man really is.
