God’s sovereignty is one of the most important attributes to grasp. God is Sovereign over all the affairs of the Universe and nations. He has established his throne in heaven. His kingdom rules over the entire universe. (Psalms 103:19) He is infinite, transcending, and ultimate authority in every realm, time and place, seen and unseen; all things were created and existed through Him and in Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16-17)
God’s sovereignty means He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, Who is and Who was and Who is to come the Almighty, the Ruler of all (Revelation 1:8). Nothing can stop God from doing his will. Psalm 115:3 says plainly, “Our God is in the heavens; He does all He pleases.” Only He can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything He plans comes to pass, for He does whatever He wishes. He fulfills His every plan. (Isaiah 46:9-10)
Through the book of Daniel, the Holy Spirit reveals to you that the Most High God sovereignly rules over all the kingdoms of the earth; (Daniel 4:17) He removes kings and sets up kings (Daniel 2:21). And He gives the kingdoms of mankind to whomever He pleases. (Daniel 4:25) Just as He sovereignly chooses you to be His child. (Ephesians 1:4)
