Story Transcript:

Nl: Jan, Sophie en Lars waren goede vrienden.
En: Jan, Sophie and Lars were good friends.

Nl: Ze woonden in de mooie stad Amsterdam.
En: They lived in the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

Nl: Deze stad had kanalen, mooie huizen en natuurlijk tulpenvelden, veel tulpenvelden.
En: This city had canals, beautiful houses, and of course, fields of tulips, lots of tulip fields.

Nl: Op een zonnige dag besloten ze te gaan fietsen.
En: On a sunny day, they decided to go cycling.

Nl: Jan was dol op haring.
En: Jan loved herring.

Nl: Hij had net een bord haring gekocht bij de viskraam op de markt.
En: He had just bought a plate of herring from the fish stand at the market.

Nl: Hij dacht: "Ik kan fietsen en haring eten tegelijkertijd.
En: He thought, "I can cycle and eat herring at the same time."

Nl: " Sophie waarschuwde hem: "Jan, kijk uit.
En: Sophie warned him, "Jan, be careful.

Nl: Het is lastig om te fietsen en eten op hetzelfde moment.
En: It's difficult to cycle and eat at the same time."

Nl: " Maar Jan luisterde niet.
En: But Jan didn't listen.

Nl: Lars, aan de andere kant, had zijn telefoon in zijn handen.
En: On the other hand, Lars had his phone in his hands.

Nl: Hij zag een veld met mooie, kleurrijke tulpen.
En: He saw a field with beautiful, colorful tulips.

Nl: "Wat een prachtige plek voor een selfie!

Nl: Zonder te kijken begon hij te fietsen en probeerde hij een foto te maken met de tulpen op de achtergrond.

Nl: Sophie hielp Lars om zijn gekreukelde tulpen recht te trekken, en gaf Jan een verse haring van het bord.
En: Sophie helped straighten Lars' crumpled tulips and gave Jan a fresh herring from the plate.

Nl: Vanaf die dag in Amsterdam werden hun fietstochten veel rustiger.
En: From that day in Amsterdam, their cycling trips became much calmer.

Nl: Jan at zijn haring netjes op een bankje, en Lars maakte selfies alleen wanneer hij niet fietste.
En: Jan ate his herring neatly on a bench, and Lars took selfies only when he wasn't cycling.
