show moreThis is first year the Texas Education Agency hands out grades to individual school campuses.
CSISD board president Jeff Harris, when was asked the state giving D's to three elementary schools...Creek View, College Hills, and Southwood Valley...told WTAW News he wasn't shocked or disappointed. Harris said "We do have a few issues at a couple of those schools that they (administrators) will work on", and "We generally know kind of where we have issues and try to stay on top of it and get ahead of them."
Harris says the board and administration considers the state's grades as one point of reference.
Another tool is the board's community based accountability system, which Harris says takes into account "the things that we think are important for education, much more than a standardized test put forth by the state."
And Harris's takeaway to CSISD patrons should be what's the overall job CSISD is doing.
Forest Ridge received an A, South Knoll and Spring Creek received C's, and the remaining CSISD elementaries received a B.
