As of September 28, 2024, Lake Texoma is offering some exciting fishing opportunities, especially with the cooler weather setting in.

### Weather and Water Conditions
The water temperature is around 75 degrees, and the lake is slightly stained. The water level is about 1.37 feet below pool, which is relatively stable. Today's weather forecast shows increasing clouds with a high of 95 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms tonight, cooling down to 66 degrees.

### Sunrise and Sunset
Sunrise is at around 7:20 AM, and sunset will be at approximately 7:15 PM, giving you ample time for both morning and evening fishing sessions.

### Fish Activity
Striped bass fishing is improving significantly with the cooler days. These fish are often schooled up and moving fast near ledges and ditches. You can catch them using live bait in 25-40 feet of water, adjusting as the fish move through. Early mornings and late evenings are prime times to find big fish scattered in shallow water. Topwater baits are effective in the mornings, especially under birds, and then switch to slabs as you move to deeper waters.

Crappie fishing is also picking up as the water temperatures drop. Look for them suspended in brush piles in 12-15 feet of water using minnows and dark-colored jigs. Catfishing remains excellent, with smaller channels and blues biting on punch baits and cut shad in 15-25 feet of water around main lake points and ditches.

Bass fishing is a bit slower due to the abundance of shad, but you can still find them around boulders and shaded banks in 8-12 feet of water using electronics to locate structure and stumps.

### Best Lures and Bait
For striped bass, live shad and topwater baits are highly effective, especially in the mornings. As the day progresses, switch to slabs in deeper waters. Crappie are best caught with minnows and dark-colored jigs. Catfish are biting well on punch baits, cut shad, and prepared baits. For bass, use hard baits early and plastics later, focusing on main lake points and shallower humps.

### Hot Spots
One of the hot spots is along the shallow flats, especially under working birds where striped bass and sand bass are active. Another good spot is near the ledges and ditches where striped bass are schooling up. The tributaries and creeks are also new territory for striped bass, making them worth exploring.

Overall, Lake Texoma is in great shape for fishing right now, with plenty of action from various species. Just remember to be stealthy, especially in the mornings, to avoid spooking the fish.
