It is believed that the murders occurred at a different location, possibly not even along the Parkway. David Knobling's truck was discovered with its doors ajar, the keys still in the ignition, and the radio playing. As an automotive enthusiast, Knobling was known for never leaving his truck unlocked.

Typically, he parked by reversing into spaces; however, the truck was found parked head-in. Notably, Knobling had modified his car's radio to connect directly to the battery, eliminating the need to set the ignition to Accessories, which was the state of the vehicle when it was located. This indicated that someone other than Knobling had likely operated the truck last.

In the case of Keith Call, his vehicle was located on the Parkway, prompting immediate disputes from both families regarding the likelihood of the victims intentionally parking there. Both families expressed that their loved ones had a significant fear of the dark and the isolated nature of the Parkway at night. Call's keys remained in the ignition, and his gold wristwatch was found on the seat, an act that family members insisted he would never have committed.
