The College Station police department reported the first six months of activity of its new online reporting system at the last city council meeting.

Assistant chief Chuck Fleeger says they received 1,200 reports from the public. He estimated that saved 1,200 manpower hours by citizens going to their electronic devices.

DORS, which stands for Desk Officer Reporting System, is designed to take online reports of seven types of incidents that are not in progress, and/or not an emergency, and/or when there is no suspect information.

Citizens can report to CSPD credit and debit card abuse, criminal mischief, phone harassment, identify theft, lost property, theft, and vehicle burglary.
