In the Old Testament, Job is a man who, in a matter of a few hours, loses everything he held dear. Sons, daughters, wealth and possessions were all taken from him. Job and his wife were left ... alone. How did he respond? We are told, "Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fellon the ground and worshiped" (Job 1:20). Even in the face of catastrophic loss, Job continued to turn his heart to the living God.
