Story Transcript:

Lv: Rīgas sirds pukst stipri ik rītu.
En: The heart of Riga beats strongly every morning.

Lv: Tā ir tirgus sirdspuksti - cilvēku balsis, soļu troksnis, un īstu Latvijas dārzeņu smarža.
En: It is the heartbeat of the market - the voices of people, the sound of footsteps, and the true scent of Latvian vegetables.

Lv: Šeit, starp sīpolu kalniem un biešu piramīdām, Aivars gāja pirkstu galiem pāri zaļiem kāpostiem.
En: Here, among the onion hills and beet pyramids, Aivars walked his fingers across the green cabbages.

Lv: Aivars bija liels kāpostu mīļotājs.
En: Aivars was a great lover of cabbage.

Lv: Viņš pavadīja savas dienas izpētot visdažādākās šķirnes, bet šodien viņa sirdi pārņēma nemiers.
En: He spent his days studying the most diverse varieties, but today, restlessness seized his heart.

Lv: No malas ieraudzīja kaut ko neparastu - tik lielu kāpostu galvu, ka no pārsteiguma viņam palika elpa aizrauties.
En: From the side, he noticed something unusual - such a large cabbage head that he was left breathless with surprise.

Lv: "Kas tas par briesmolīgu radījumu?
En: "What a monstrous creature?"

Lv: " Aivars noskatījās ar apbrīnu.
En: Aivars gazed with wonder.

Lv: Taču uz mirkli, kāpostu haoss pārņēma viņa sirdi.
En: However, for a moment, the chaos of cabbages seized his heart.

En: The cabbage head lay not among the others, but seemed to be alone, forgotten.

Lv: "Iemaldījies bērns!
En: "A lost child!"

Lv: " Aivars nemaz neapdomājās.
En: Aivars didn't even think.

Lv: Viņš iedomājās, ka kāds mazs bērns ir apģērbies kāpostu kostīmā.
En: He imagined that a small child had dressed up in a cabbage costume.

Lv: Izskrējis no vecākiem, bēdīgi klusējot tirgus piesātinātajā troksnī.
En: Escaping from their parents, sadly silent in the saturated noise of the market.

Lv: Aivars uzreiz nolēma rīkoties.
En: Aivars immediately decided to act.

Lv: "Glābsim bērnu," viņš pukstēja, un sāka skriet apkārt, izjautājot tirgotājus.
En: "Let's save the child," he whispered, and started running around, asking the vendors.

Lv: "Have you seen a lost child wearing a cabbage costume?
En: "Have you seen a lost child wearing a cabbage costume?"

En: Inese, who sold produce at the adjacent table, watched Aivars with a smile.

En: She knew Aivars as a kind but not very attentive person.

Lv: Ienāca viņai prātā, ka būs jāpaskaidro viņam šī nesapratne.
En: It occurred to her that she would have to explain this misunderstanding to him.

Lv: Iekustinot kājas, Inese devās Aivara virzienā.
En: Moving her feet, Inese headed towards Aivars.

En: "Aivars," she called to him on the shoulder when he had stopped to ask a pedestrian for directions.

Lv: "Tas nav bērns.
En: "That's not a child.

Lv: Tas ir vienkārši ļoti liels kāposts!
En: It's just a very large cabbage!"

Lv: "Aivara seja izgaismojās saprašanas un pārsteiguma sajaukumā.
En: Aivars' face lit up with a mixture of understanding and surprise.

En: The heart that was ready to fight for the little "child" now leaped with laughter.

Lv: Ak, cik dzīvīgs bija šis tirgus un cik gudra bija Inese.
En: Oh, how lively this market was and how clever Inese was.

En: From this moment on, Aivars took a lesson for himself - never to be mistaken in the market with imagination when Inese is nearby to uncover the truth.

Lv: Un tas ir kāds stāsts par pārpratumu un draudzību Rīgas Centrāltirgū, kur aiz katras kāpostu galvas var būt vēl viens brīnumains piedzīvojums.
En: And that's a story of misunderstanding and friendship at the Riga Central Market, where behind every cabbage head, there could be yet another miraculous adventure.
