Buckcherry are a band synonymous with hard rock.
Throughout their career they have released the hit singles "Crazy Bitch", "Lit Up" and "Next To You” but have also cracked the charts with slow burners such as “Sorry” and “Everything”.
Although equally at home with the ballad or rock number, long time fans will be pleased to hear that their upcoming ninth studio album Hellbound is definitely more of the former, with guitarist Stevie D joining HEAVY to talk about what we can expect.
"We've had our fair share of shake-ups during the last few years," he began, "but I think we dialled it in. Josh and I - during quarantine here in the States - wrote twenty-something songs and went to Nashville and paired up with a guy called Marti Frederikson and brought the whole thing home and dialled it into ten rock and roll songs for you. There have been times when we had something specific in mind, like a certain sound in mind, but I think for this one it served us best to just write the best songs that we could. We ended up with over 25 of them and then we whittled them down to ten and Marty was the one who chose the ten that we were gonna concentrate on and they all happened to be consistent with each other and cohesive and they were all rock and roll - or guitar-driven - songs and maybe had an overtone of being that 70's rock and roll classic band."
In the full interview, Stevie runs us through Hellbound in greater detail, the writing process, working with Marti and his role over the whole album process, his own joining of Buckcherry back in 2005 and what was expected of him, the ensuing album 15 and why it resonated with fans, the EP Fuck and how it was received, plans for 2021 and more.
