BackTrekking returns again to look back at the real-world inspirations of classic Trek episodes!
Spacewomen are kicking alien ass this week as Ka1iban and GooeyFame pit 1979's "Alien" and the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Macrocosm" against each other in a fight to the death! Ripley works in space and it's time to clean up the office, while Janeway doesn't want to talk about the bonus situation, just giant virus eradication!
On this episode, we talk about the greatest movie of all time that a lot of people didn't really like when it was first released. We also talk about our mutual experiences of "giving up" on Voyager and the slow climb back, the hardworkin' HR Giger, perfecting a "haunted house movie in space", the varying generational appeal of Ridley Scott, the film's thrilling cinematic trailer, the lasting influence of "Alien", and making peahats scary!
We also have a Gooey Toe Update, Janeway shankin' fools, the Tom Skerritt Hour, a discussion of the artiness of video games and "video game" movies, #fillthetankup, the Franchiseamatron, chrome penises, skateboarding aliens, we disagree about "Us", Gooey calls George Lucas a war criminal, and Kal wants Watch Dogs chips in everyone's heads! Remember: the eighth passenger is death!
