show moreIn Bryan, city secretary Mary Lynne Stratta said on WTAW's The Infomaniacs that turnout has increased greatly since municipal elections were moved to November.
Stratta also says too many times, people don't bother voting when there's only local issues.
Stratta, who has been city secretary (known outside of Texas as city clerk) in Bryan in 1990, also talked about the popularity of curbside voting in light of this week's College Station city council special election.
A winner of the Texas City Clerk of the Year award, Stratta has also served as president of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). She is an instructor of educational sessions for the IIMC, the National League of Cities, the Texas Municipal League, and the Texas Municipal City Clerks Certification Program.
