show moreGeneral Manager Gary Miller says one reason for the change was the city council's desire to be consistent with other city boards and commissions.
Another reason was the difficulty under the old process of finding qualified applicants who represented specific interests.
The new rules, which do not result in replacing the current board, includes for the first time of having at least two BTU customers who live outside the Bryan city limits.
And the council will officially appoint future board members without recommendations by current members.
