Description
There aren't any prominent fight cards for this second weekend in September, but there's PLENTY to still go over on our latest "Big Fight Weekend Preview Podcast!" Host T.J. Rives...
show moreHost T.J. Rives returns with insider Dan Rafael of BigFightWeekend.com to talk first about the shocking arrest of prominent American trainer Brian "BoMac" McIntyre on hand gun charges in Manchester, England. McIntyre was in England as the trainer for Chris Eubank Jr. last Saturday and found to have a handgun in his luggage. And, unlike in the USA, he wasn't allowed to bail out quickly and will apparently be in an English jail for another month. Dan has more, including how did McIntyre have a gun with him in the first place coming from the U.S. for the fight?
The guys then discuss the futile appeal of heavyweight Daniel Dubois to the WBA about his loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Dubois and his promoter Frank Warren contend that Usyk wasn't hit low in the fifth round of their bout that Usyk eventually won by KO and that the referee not counting him out was wrong. So, they want the result nullified and a rematch ordered. There are strong takes from Dan and T.J.
Then, what's up with Tyson Fury and his future plans after he fights Francis Ngannou in late October? And, they don't apparently involve an undisputed fight with Usyk.
There's more fight news about Amanda Serrano, a proposed Jose Ramirez-Arnold Barboza bout, a positive drug test for a heavyweight, the death of a veteran trainer and more.
And, finally some nostalgia on Mike Tyson's "phantom KO" of Bruce Seldon for a heavyweight title in 1996 and also the final fight of Vitali Klitschko's hall of fame career was this week over a decade ago, as well.
It's all part of the "Big Fight Weekend Preview" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Spreaker, Google, etc.!!
