Judie Henninger is a breast cancer survivor and joins us to talk about her journey using a combination of traditional and alternative health practices. Two years ago Judie went in for a routine mammogram and check up, which she did every year. After the mammogram the doctor asked her to come back for an ultrasound because they saw something. After the ultrasound they did a biopsy and she was diagnosed with breast cancer on her left side.
The waiting process between the mammogram and the ultrasound and the biopsy and then eventually the results was awful emotionally. The results were breast cancer and it was in one node. They asked her that day if she wanted to consult with a surgeon which she did. The treatment recommended as a mastectomy on the left side and chemotherapy.
Judie chose both an alternative health and an traditional health approach to treatment. She chose a surgeon, a plastic surgeon and an oncologist. She used acupuncture, meditation, teas, and various other things during her chemotherapy to help with the side-effects. She actually managed to avoid nausea during the chemotherapy treatment.
Now Judie spends her time mentoring and encouraging other women who are facing the same thing she had to face with breast cancer.
