Story Transcript:

En: Matej sat on a bench in Tivoli Park in Ljubljana.

Sl: Veter je nežno pihal skozi drevesa, katerih listi so bili zdaj živo rdeči, oranžni in zlati.
En: The wind gently blew through the trees, whose leaves were now vivid red, orange, and gold.

Sl: Razmišljal je o svojem življenju.
En: He was contemplating his life.

Sl: Vse je bilo po urniku.
En: Everything was on schedule.

Sl: Predavanja, knajigarne, nazaj domov.
En: Lectures, libraries, back home.

En: The routine suffocated him, but he didn’t know how to break it.

Sl: "Matej!

En: called Tanja, his friend, who had just cycled up to him.

Sl: Njeni obrazi so bili rdeči zaradi mrzlega zraka.
En: Her cheeks were red from the cold air.

Sl: "Kaj praviš na spontano?
En: "What do you say to something spontaneous?

Sl: Imam avto in idejo.
En: I have a car and an idea."

Sl: "Matej je vzdehnil in pogledal proti njej.
En: Matej sighed and looked toward her.

Sl: "Povej mi.
En: "Tell me."

Sl: ""Greva na Bled!
En: "Let's go to Bled!

Sl: Danes!
En: Today!

Sl: Zdaj!
En: Now!

Sl: Bo prečudovito, verjemi," je odvrnila Tanja s svojimi iskrivimi očmi.
En: It will be wonderful, trust me," replied Tanja, her eyes sparkling.

En: He knew he needed to learn to be more spontaneous.

Sl: "Prav," je končno odgovoril.
En: "Alright," he finally answered.

Sl: "Greva.
En: "Let's go."

En: Soon they were sitting in Tanja's car, moving through the city streets of Ljubljana.

Sl: Tanja je zavrtela glasbo.
En: Tanja turned on the music.

En: Matej relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

Sl: A kmalu sta naletela na prometni zastoj.
En: But soon, they encountered a traffic jam.

Sl: "Uh, tole ni bilo del plana," je rekel Matej in začutil rahlo tesnobo.
En: "Uh, this wasn't part of the plan," Matej said, feeling a slight anxiety.

Sl: "Ne skrbi," je rekla Tanja.
En: "Don't worry," Tanja said.

Sl: "Zapeljiva bova po stranskih cestah.
En: "We'll take the back roads.

Sl: Bova videla več narave, in manj avtoceste.
En: We'll see more nature and less highway."

Sl: "Matej je globoko vdihnil in prikimal.
En: Matej took a deep breath and nodded.

Sl: Zaupati je moral Tanjini samozavesti.
En: He needed to trust Tanja's confidence.

Sl: Sledila je manjši, a slikoviti cesti.
En: She followed a smaller, yet scenic road.

Sl: Drevesa so se zgostila, sonce je sijalo skozi listje in vse je bilo čarobno.
En: The trees thickened, the sun shone through the leaves, and everything was magical.

Sl: Ampak njuna sreča ni trajala dolgo.
En: But their luck didn't last long.

En: The car started shaking before it stopped by the roadside.

Sl: "Ne ostaneva tu," je dejala Tanja veselo in začela raziskovati, kako bi popravila težavo.
En: "We won't stay here," Tanja said cheerfully and began exploring how to fix the problem.

En: Matej initially panicked, but then he remembered why he had left Ljubljana.

En: Together, they walked down the road and after a few minutes, they came across a local man fixing a tractor.

En: He was a friendly man, happy to help them, and soon they were back on their way.

En: When they arrived at Bled, the sun was just about to set.

Sl: Jezerni odsevi so bili čudoviti, okolica pa pravljična v svetlobi poznega dneva.
En: The reflections on the lake were beautiful, and the surroundings were fairy-tale-like in the light of the late day.

Sl: Matej je pogledal proti Tanjini in nasmešek je krasil njegov obraz.
En: Matej looked at Tanja, and a smile graced his face.

Sl: Spontanost je imela svoj čar.
En: Spontaneity had its charm.

En: "You see, it was worth it," Tanja said as they sat by the lake, watching the sun sink on the horizon.

En: Today, he realized how beautiful it can be when you surrender to the unknown.

Sl: "Ja, res je bilo.
En: "Yes, it really was."

Sl: " Občutek svobode in nepredvidljivosti ga je prevzel.
En: The feeling of freedom and unpredictability overwhelmed him.

En: Matej knew his routine would now be enriched with new, spontaneous energy.
