Scripture texts are Deuteronomy 16.1-8, 16 and Luke 2.41-52 from the subject “Beyond the Big Day.”
Welcome to the last Sunday in the year of our LORD, 2021. I pray you had a blessed celebration in recognition of the birth of our LORD and Savior into the flesh. I pray you had a merry Christmas as you acknowledged God leaving heaven to come to earth to become the sacrificial lamb for you and me. If we are not careful though, we can get caught up in the hype of the Big Day. We can miss the reason for the season. We can miss Jesus.
I.During the big day, we go to God. (vv41-42)
II.After the big day, we must bring the LORD back with us. (vv43-45)
III.If Jesus is not with us, we are in the wrong place (vv46-50)
IV.Our favor is in proportion to our Christlikeness beyond the Big Day. (vv51-52)
It is my prayer to God for you that you grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men as you live a life pleasing in God’s sight, by allowing the Holy Spirit to conform you into the image of Jesus Christ both now and way beyond the Big Day.
We invite you to receive Jesus as your LORD and Savior today.
