show moreGood Friday is coming, but Easter morning is waiting for us on the other side. Join me, as we watch, and wait, and hope in God during Holy Week.
Scripture passage: Matthew 26:1-5, 14-16
I wonder what Jesus’ disciples felt when he told them that he would be handed over, and nailed to a cross. I wonder how I would have felt, if I were there? Would I have been disappointed? Disbelieving? Confused? Sad?
I wonder why the chief priests and the leaders wanted so badly to arrest Jesus, and to see him killed? I wonder how they felt, as they heard him speak and saw the crowds gather around him?
I wonder why Judas went to find the chief priests? I wonder what he was thinking and feeling when he made that decision?
I wonder how he felt, as he walked away with the thirty pieces of silver in his pocket. I wonder what Judas thought, and felt, the next time he looked into Jesus’ eyes?
Jesus, you were betrayed by a friend. You knew that every step in Jerusalem was leading you closer to a Roman cross. On this week, so many years ago, you endured so much pain, because you love us. Help us to trust you even when, like the disciples we don’t understand what you are doing; to adore you, because you are good; and to rest in your strong love.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
