show moreOne of the synagogues decided not to extend an invitation to speak. Chuck spoke at the other synagogue, which had the courage to invite him, but his presentation was met by a walk-out by more than half of the attendees. Most of the protesters returned at the end of his presentation.
Chuck observes that the protesters consisted of two general types. The first type, the hard left, are hard-core haters of Trump who can't be reached. Generally they reflect approximately 5-10% of the American population. The rest, the majority of the protesters, are social climbers who have imbibed an extreme and entirely irrational hatred of Trump for reasons that are more often unconscious.
This group can be reached and the best pathway toward reaching them is through tolerance, patience and love. They are mostly well-meaning, not hard-left, who aspire to be socially accepted and who believe that their irrational positions are somehow virtuous.
