Wedding season is fast approaching and the first question couples are frequently asked is where are you going on your honeymoon? With hectic work schedules and an attention to budget there are some new trends emerging in the honeymoon market. A new survey just released by Westin Hotels & Resorts, revealed that as a whole people are taking shorter trips but looking to fill those days with more activities.
The stereotypical notion of sitting on a beach drinking a fruity umbrella drink has changed somewhat with romance couples seeking out opportunities to get up from their lounge chair, through activities like stand up paddle boarding, hiking, surfing, cycling or taking advantage of the resort property’s yoga offerings.
Well-being is also a key component! The wellness market is a $1 trillion business with nearly 300 million consumers worldwide. Newlyweds report they did some level of “getting in shape” for their wedding and want to continue those healthy habits even when they are on their honeymoon.
Think that honeymooners disconnect while celebrating their marriage, not anymore, a high percentage of travelers remain connected via social media, and many even maintain some communication with work.
