Last month, in a victory for the Algonquins of Barriere Lake, Quebec’s Superior Court rejected an appeal from Copper One Inc. against a government decision to deny the mining company a deforestation permit on provincial wildlife reserve La Vérendrye, located on unceded Indigenous territory.
