It’s the night dreams of made of.
This weekend, the next step in many kids and families dreams take the next step as they will be drafted in the NHL. I say the next step, because obviously not every one makes it. A first round, or even a first pick in the first round doesn’t guarantee superstardom. Look at the Edmonton Oilers. Yes, they drafted Connor McDavid. But they also drafted Nail Yakupov who signed today in Russia.
According to liveabout. com TSN looked at draft picks from 2000 to 2009. Based on that analysis, TSN concluded that 80 percent of first-round picks become at least low-level NHL players, while 44 percent of those players selected in the second round make the NHL a career. Just 30 percent of third-round picks become NHL players, and the percentages continue to drop in the later rounds
There is no exact science, but clearly homework is needed.
Seen, Tyler and I got through our mock draft process and pic the 1st Round for all 31 teams. There are no predictions of trades.
We also talk about Alex Edler signing with the Canucks and Jesse Puljujärvi asking for a trade from the Edmonton Oilers
